Rating: PG-13
Prompt: "Dolls". Which made me think of toys, which made me think of this.
Warnings: Envy is a warning in himself, really. Again, nothing... actually porn-y, but still maybe not the most work-safe thing on the planet.
A/N: First draft. Will probably improve once knighterrific looks over it for me.



You think of humans as toys; relatively entertaining to play with for a while, fun, in a predictable way, to figure out, to find exactly what makes them tick, but even that gets boring after awhile. At their very core, they're so disgustingly alike, so... tiresome, really.

You don't hang around long enough to let yourself get bored. There are always new and better toys to play with.

So when the feeling of his hands wound tightly in your hair becomes too familiar, when there's nothing new - or exciting - or any sort of interesting - about the curses he hisses under his breath because he'd never, ever give you that satisfaction of letting you hear him scream, you start to wonder. Maybe it's time you gave up this stupid - whatever it is. This stupid game to see how far you can push him before--

before he breaks.

That's what you do to toys you have no use for anymore.

You break them.

And that's more than half the fun.

And you smirk, and think that maybe sticking around just a little while longer isn't such a bad idea after all.
